My sculpture,"Big Brother", represents an aspect of my work that is derived from my interest in human interaction and contemporary social issues. Hammered by hand from 1/2 inch thick steel, "Brother" is 10 feet tall and weighs 6000 pounds. While his imposing scale and long arms are intended to create a feeling of intrusion, he has a gentle and unassuming face. He is just curious.

"Bigb Brother" represents scrutiny in a broad sense- from government, society, your neighbors. "Big Brother" is meant to be interactive with his audience. People can sit on his hands and be weighed. "Big Brother" was created in part as a response to self-censorship on the part of artists and imposed censorship from art critics and curators. His reversed fig leaf is an allegory to the current state of paranoia about art that may challenge, yet it is hiding nothing that can pose a threat.
