The
sculpture is created by applying clay over a metal armature or skeleton.
A rubber mold is then taken from the sculpted clay. A wax version
of the original clay is then taken from the rubber mold. The wax
sculpture is then plumbed and placed into a fireproof mold or investment
mold. The investment mold is then placed in a kiln and the wax is
burned away, leaving an impression in the mold that will be filled
with molten bronze. The investment mold is then carefully removed
from around the cooled and solidified bronze pieces. The plumbing
system, now in bronze, is then cut away. The pieces are then welded,
sandblasted and a patina applied.
